This was so wacky and heartfelt I loved it! The pacing is a bit weird. I wish the time at the B&B was shorter and the time on the island was longer. The resolution was rather abrupt too. I felt the  end of the book didn’t clearly show Makeda and Bez being on the same page about how they felt about each other. All the same, I loved the journey and these characters and can’t wait to read about more of Alyssa Cole’s royals.

This was a very fun read. I started it to cheer myself up, and it absolutely did the job. The chemistry between the characters was fantastic, and there were some parts that had me laughing out loud. Definitely a great read for anyone who likes funny and romantic books.

TW: Also a story about refugees/people escaping their home countries being in the water (alive, but still can be traumatic for some!) I like both of the MCs so much. But I don’t care about this romance? I don’t know if it’s the location or the pacing? I feel like there’s stuff I love: sapphic love, bnbs, bodyguard~ element, close proximity/one bed trope, etc. But they were pushed together by a circumstance that I feel like they did NOT touch on enough? Like that chunk wrapped up so quickly? And a lot wasn’t addressed really in terms of Makeda’s background? A lot is going on, lol.
