Follows Reyes story from his early childhood to when he meets Charley as an adult. Interesting, but I don't think it tells us anything new. Always nice to read more about Reyes though!

description

Finally we got a peek into Reyes POV. He is one of my all time favorite book boyfriends, he is just so mysterious. This novella is a perfect addition to the series, and I hope we will get more of these novellas in the future. This book is sad and dark but also shows how protective Reyes is of the people he loves, he sacrifices himself to save them. I just loved how he watched over Charley from the start. He has been through so much and my heart broke every time something bad happened to him. :( This novella gives a great background story to Reyes. I wouldn't have minded if it was a full length novel, I just can't get enough of him.

Now I need it to be January so I can read book #9!! I recommend this to every Charley Davidson series fan!! (Normally I don't read novellas but come in IT'S REYES POV!!!)

I loved this look into Reyes' past told from his point-of-view.

I really hate when books go too into detail about sexual abuse. I mean, we know it happened as part of the main story plot, I just didn’t need explicit details about it. I wish I had skipped this story.

Brighter than the Sun
4 Stars

This book chronicles the life and times of Alexander Reyes Farrow, the sexy son of Satan, and his undying love for Charley Davidson, the woman whose light and laughter kept him sane during the most torturous moments of his past.

Series note:While this is a prequel, it should be read after book #8 as knowledge of the characters and events leading up to book #1 are crucial to truly appreciating the extent of Reyes's perceptions and feelings for Charley.

Told from Reyes's point of view, this novella provides the information and insights into his character that are only hinted at in the full length novels. Thankfully, Jones spares us much of the horrific details of the abuse he suffered at the hands of his abductor, Earl Walker, and focuses instead on his encounters with Charley throughout her lifetime.

While the specifics of Reyes and Charley's romance will be familiar to anyone who has read the series, this novella highlights the depth and breadth of Reyes's feelings for her and demonstrates the extent to which she not only saved his life, but also made him into the man he is - one with the empathy and sympathy as well as the ferocity needed to be her partner in all things.

All in all, an amazing read and a must for all lovers of anything Reyes.

Brighter Than the Sun turned out to be the darkest part of the Charley Davidson series. It's about the abuse Reyes suffered growing up.
Didn't add much new to the story (can be skipped without consequences).

I have never been a huge fan of Reyes Farrow's.. Well not until I think the 5th book. I kind of hated him. I knew he had a hard childhood. I knew his 'father'/step father whatever Earl was to him abused him terribly but I still didn't understand why he treated Charley the way that he did. And I didn't understand Charley's fascination with him besides the fact that he was attractive. All I got was Charley going on and on about how sexy Reyes Farrow was and then he was a total dick to her. I just didn't get it. After book 5 I started to like Reyes. He was less of a dick and more of a sweetie pie... in a alpha male way. But after this book I kind of understand a little bit more of what was going on in the first couple of books.

Charley Davidson fans should not expect the same quirky humor that has been in the other books. This is not like those book. It is kind of darker. I am glad that it doesn't go into great detail about what Earl did to him. It's a good book to get into Reyes head. But I need to get back into Charleys head. I need her spunk. Reyes's story totally brought me down. On to book number 9!

Hach ja. Ganz okay, das aus Reyes Sicht zu lesen. Aber nichts Besonderes.
