Oh, boy. I'd been looking forward to reading this since I saw it on the Youth Media Award winners list, and it did not disappoint. That said, the ending felt rushed and the reveal at the end kind of went over my head the first time, and I had to go back and reread in order for it to really click with me.

Other than that, I really, really loved this book. It made me laugh, weep, grit my teeth in anger, and sit silently in reflection. I think I'll probably be sitting with this one for a while yet.

I loved this book. A beautifully written and emotional novel about how trauma and grief can shape us but our lives can still be full of love and joy and the monuments to all those moments.

Maybe some of the secrets were overdone a little, but I don't care, I loved it. It was devastating in the best possible way, I haven't read an account of difficult but still alive family relationships that felt so real in a while. I wa angry, frustrated, frightened and sad with the characters. It was amazing.
