I think we should challenge ourselves, read outside of our comfort zone to broaden our views and understand others as well as the world around us. Experience literature in many different ways, be a little bit uncomfortable. But this was too much for me. Unfortunately this book triggered my OCD quite heavily. I probably should have stopped when I started to feel the anxiety, but I had incentives to finish it and I didn’t want to be weak and uncultured (and it wasn’t very long). I cannot speak for if this book was good or bad, I can only say that I really didn’t like it and that I actually kind of regret reading it, which doesn’t happen often even when I dislike a book.

I honestly don’t know what I think of this book. In some ways it really reminded me of some other recent novels where a woman goes off the deep end but it honestly has a lot more depth than those (all fours, my year of rest and relaxation). I was enthralled. It helped that the chapters are very short so you have to keep reading compulsively. Absurd book. Reflection needed.
