A lot of emotions finishing this book. Neither Maggie nor Nina are particularly redeemable characters but you can still have some sympathy for Maggie (although she also tried to kill someone …). Despite this the only character you can truly root for is Dylan and his death is the one that hits you the most.

What Lies Between Us is a dark and twisted story of a mother and daughter. Both of them are keeping lots secrets from each other. The story alternates between the mother and daughter’s points of views and between past and present day. Maybe a slight *spoiler alert* but this doesn’t have a happy ending so be aware it’s just dark and twisty throughout! It’s available for on kindle unlimited with audible narration so I listed to this one.

3.5⭐️ Gah this book made me so frustrated! The characters were so infuriating. I’m sure that was the point but it was so tense, I just felt mad and stressed the whole time. Both major characters were just INSUFFERABLE.

I also guessed several of the twists as I read a lot of thriller books, so that was a bit disappointing.

I’ve been waiting and wanting to read this book for some time, but I didn’t love it as much as I had hoped. I’m going to need a pallet cleanser book after this one.

This takes the complicated mother-daughter relationship and puts it on an entirely new level. Resentments, mistrust, and what one does out of love of stretched and pulled in this twisted and addictive novel. 4.5 Stars.

Everyone in this book makes me angry except for maybe one character but it would be a spoiler to say which one lol.

Anyways, I always enjoy the darkness of humanity that John Marrs brings to his book. It brings the question of what would you do for the one you love? It can be quite scary how far you'd go.

I thought the build up took a bit longer than I would have liked. But overall, I ate this book up.
