  • This was the perfect graphic novel for Halloween! It's a collection of horror stories by Emily Carroll and I really liked her storytelling, it was haunting and creepy. The only complaint I have is that the stories all ended very abruptly before we could properly unravel the mystery and I was left wanting to know more!
  • The art style is also absolutely stunning and my favorite part of the book! I love how the art adapts to the kind of story that is being told, I thought it was used very uniquely here. I definitely can see myself reading other works by this author as she's such a gifted artist!

SO glad StoryGraph recommended this to me! If you're like me and go bananas for Over the Garden Wall but are also into darker stories, this is the book for you. I could not get enough of any of the stories, and I found it especially compelling that most, if not all, of them were ultimately metaphors for loss or coping with it. TLDR; this is a fantastic book and you should read it!!!

to restate what everyone else has already said, the art is beautiful. like it really popped off that hard for the conclusion??? wow. but a few of the stories were too open-ended for my liking

These comics are beautiful, creepy, and extremely well designed. The paneling is deftly woven, the writing is tight, and the stories will stick with you. 4 stars because I feel like some of the comics are a little short and leave interesting possibilities on the table.

This was so spooky... I'm in love with the atmosphere in here. The art is so gorgeously creepy. The stories have kind of a campfire story feel to them. It actually reminded me a lot of The Magnus Archives in the way they were structured, but that comparison might have more to do with my lack of experience with horror anthologies. I guess I should read more though, considering how much I liked this one. The only thing I'd change would be to make a few of the stories longer with added character depth.
