Vamp is the place to be to find your other half. Just don’t expect them to always be human. The third book of the series brings Lily and her friend to Vamp to celebrate. What she didn’t expect was to fall for the singer of the band playing. But her secret will stop her from letting things go beyond the bedroom. And might destroy any chance she has for the man she really wants. Things do heat up between the sheets with these two.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.

This is book three of the Underground Encounters series and the main characters are Lily (Ligeia) Everett, who is celebrating a job promotion with a friend, and Nico Bedrosian, a computer geek during the day and the lead singer, aka Leggy Bones, in a rock band called Velvet Cocks at night. They meet when he is playing with his band at the club Vamps, in Boston, and he overhears her being congratulated at the bar and buys her and her friend some champagne. When he comes back and asks her name, she plays hard to get wanting a bit more than just a one night stand or to be yet another groupie. She doesn’t believe him when he tells her he is a computer geek for his main job. Neither can forget about the other, with Lily looking the band up on the internet, whilst Nico looks for her at the club every weekend. They meet by chance a few weeks later, in a bookstore and she finds he has a lot more in common with her than she thought. She finally gives him her real name and email and she allows him to arrange a date for the following week, she can’t do that weekend as she has a certain special place to be, to answer the call of the moon. Something she can never tell anyone and which she hates with a passion every full moon, and no, she isn’t a wolf shifter! The two get intense and close so fast, it doesn’t seem like they will ever part. But she can’t have a relationship because of her secret, something that comes from her dead father’s side and that her mother had no idea of until she shifted for the first time!

When she meets Nico again he tries asking her more about herself, but she closes herself off, realising she needs to finish with him. She has one last night with him and kisses him goodbye, but he wakes up and catches her. She tries to lie about why she can’t see him again, but he knows she’s lying. She has to speak to someone about him and so speaks to her mother, who understands how hard things have been for her, but wants something more for her daughter. Lily decides she will tell Nico her secret but he needs to wait until the next full moon, which he doesn’t quite understand. She takes him out to the mountains and when she shifts, he is shocked and backs away in fear, which makes her run off. He leaves town to go home, only to realise he had made a mistake to leave her and how much he must have hurt her. Lily needs time to think about what she wants from her life and stays in the mountain all night, ending up shifting unexpectedly the next day and putting herself in danger. A mountain couple find her and take her back to their cabin, answering her questions about their kind and help her shift without pain. She has to go back to work eventually, but comes across Nico who has been looking for her! They can’t stay apart and he wants to see her every day, but she makes him go a bit slower or tries to at least. New options come into play for Lily when she returns, as she starts to consider a better work life balance with Nico and he gets the chance to play at Vamps again.

I received an ARC copy of this book from BookSprout and I have freely given my own opinion of the book above.

This is what I’m talking about! Lisa Carlisle hit this one out of the park! I loved this! There was more emotion and character depth in this one. The story is a little more intricate as well.

First off I loved these two characters! That band! Great band name! Also love those character names! The double life of IT worker and rock and roller is so far apart but this author did it with style! Nico is such a doll! So kind, considerate and sexy I loved his character from the beginning.

Lily is in a class all her own. A shifter that has problems. I loved her background story. She became a strong woman/shifter by the end. She amazed me!

I listened to this on Audio. Kieran Flitton and Amber Lee Connors narrated this delightfully exciting story. They did a great job.
I look forward to Vamp!
