Three little girls all eating things they weren’t supposed to eat. Three little girls all eating things in order to fill their bodies with something other than the anger, the rage, that would otherwise consume them.

After her father dies, Jane and her mom move from sunny California to an old house in Maine where her mother grew up. What Jane finds there is a dark history that will tormet her with each passing day. But when she finds the thruth about what happened at that house, it's more than she can handle. It's really something horrid.

I liked the way it was written, it gave off a creepy vibe and had its suspensful moments. There was also some teenage drama, but not exaggerated. What I didn't like was Jane's mother's attitude. Instead of being sincere with her daughter she just keeps on lying. And everything was quite obvious at one point but no... she just doesn't admit a thing. Very annoying.

Gave it 3⭐️ for it was suspensful, fast-paced and horrific especially towards the end.

bruh, that’s it????

DID NOT FINISH

DNF - I’m clearly not the audience. I think the main character is suppose to read as clever and observant but she’s just annoying.

Uhmmm what the heck.

foreboding, creepy, and fucked up in the best of ways. if you're down for creaky old houses, town secrets, unreliable narrators, and agatha christie, this book is a real treat.

So I bought this book because of the cover and I was a little hesitant to read it at first due to mixed reviews on it. Lets just put it this way, I liked the book but some parts where really iffy for me. I enjoyed the plot twists and felt the plotline was decent and easy to understand & keep up with and it had a decent amount of suspense/horror but suddenly towards the end everything honestly felt very rushed, like extremely rushed. I'm glad I read it but at the same time I wish things would've been taken a bit more slower towards the end. If you buy books for aesthetic purposes 100% buy this book its cover is an amazing addition to something like that. But if you prefer books that don't feel like the plot is being rushed halfway through I wouldn't suggest reading it.

4 stars. This book was so, so good. I was able to blow through this in a few hours because I could not put my kindle down. I had to keep reading because I needed answers. Hell, I’ve finished the book and I still need answers because wtf?

This was my first book by this author and I am super impressed. I really enjoyed her writing style and the plot was absolutely fascinating. I love psychological thrillers that deal with houses and houses driving people mad. There’s quite a few films with that trope and I need more books like it because it’s so interesting. Watching how much the house changes and affects Jane was so creepy and intriguing. There were so many twists, turns and unexpected reveals that kept me hooked. The ending was batshit insanity and I loved every minute of it. I couldn’t believe it ended like that but I’m glad it did because Leno could’ve easily played it safe and try to wrap everything up in a nice bow but she didn’t. It’s dark and messed up. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I think it’s perfect for this season. I’d highly recommend it. Go in knowing as little as possible, that’s what I did and I enjoyed the experience immensely because of it.
