I'm disappointed by this sequel.

- 40% into the book before we even got a glimpse of the monster and the hunt itself was maybe only in the ladst 10 %
- no red shirt scenes, no devastating kills to fill out the story
- inconsistencies within its own framework that didn't make sense. With nothing exciting to distract you really notice this
- several pages of flashback scenes that properly were a copy / paste of the first book ( I cant be sure as I got bored and skippe them)
- no pace or action scenes
- it felt like the monster had substituted the body in a murder investigation. The center of it all but pushed into the background of just finding the murder without investigating the corpse itself

Nothing really wrong with the story itself, but without the support of the monster it was rather uninteresting and tame. Characters were still bland. I began to be very bored around the 40-50 % mark.

Even though I liked the writing style and curious about the last book Im afraid it will be all talk and no action again. That alone is enough for me not to buy the conclusion.

The book could have been a solid 3 stars if there had been just more action scenes with the monster spread around the book.
