TECHNICALLY this should probably be four stars based on lack of world building and measly attempts at showing not telling

BUT I DONT CARE. I LOVE IT.

Read this in two days but felt like two minutes.

Kova is the queen of chapter cliff hangers!!

There were several times i noticed where the story could have gone predictable/convenient but then it didn’t and I was so relieved.

I live for the drama. And boy did this deliver

Not sure if I read this super fast or if there could have been more to help set up the story better but I did find it slightly rushed (which was OK enough bc I was eager to keep seeing what would happen) but did leave for some unanswered questions / assuming on the reader

Elemental magic (à la Avatar: The Last Airbender) with a cool library setting and a broody, morally grey love interest? You just get me! 

While I really enjoyed the premise of this book, the execution felt pretty clumsy to me. This book is this author’s debut novel and I think that comes across in the writing. That said, it wasn’t enough to turn me off completely and I’d pick up book 2 to see if I like it even more!

I am rating the entire series as i read it all together. Not my typical read but I really enjoyed this story. The magic was interesting. The plot never went in a direction I expected but it was good.
