I dont typically read books such as this one. With that I mean a book that covers a serious topic through a couple of short stories.
The topic of having children and being able to conceive has been discussed mostly from the persoective of the mother. The difficult questions of whose fault it is and 'am I a failure?' often come up. In this book this was shifted to the father's perspective. What does the trajectory of conceiving a child do with men. Do men have the same biological desire to be a father, do they ask themselves the same questions as women? I think it was an interesting short read that opens up conversation about this topic.

I found this book to be a nice short read, but I worry that I may not have gotten the most out of it. The three short sections of this book are easy enough to digest on the surface, but you can always feel this lingering uncaniness to the way characters interact, especially the women. I feel like the book is acting as an inside joke to women who are mothers that I felt left out of. I can't say much about the plot without spoiling a lot of it, but just know that you with more likely be left with more questions than answers when you're done. This isn't to say that I disliked the book, only that it wasn't totally my cup of tea. Between this book and "The Hole", I would recommend the latter. But I still felt a good amount of whimsy from this short novella as well.

I liked that the three short stories followed the same people. Sometimes short books surprise me with their depth but this was lacking
