Powerful story from the viewpoint of a young boy trying to enter the U.S. from El Salvador in the early 1990s. A reminder of how fortunate many of us are, and of the determination of the human spirit.

So well written. The author presented the perspective of his story from his 9 year old self so well. Also the cadence was very poetic (didn't realize he was a poet until after reading, makes sense!). What a harrowing journey for such a young kid.

Sweet and heartbreaking. The story is engaging and the author builds a story where you feel everything the characters are experiencing. Must read for anyone who has an opinion on immigration. This story has the innocence of a child throughout with impecable point of view.‘if you don’t speak Spanish, you may miss pieces but worth the big picture.
