I love the nightmare before Christmas and I’ve enjoyed all of Shea Ernshaw’s other books so I was really excited for this book.
Unfortunately I found it really disappointing. I’m think part of what made the movie is the beautiful clay animation, without it the story felt like it was really lacking. I liked the general plot of Sally finding herself but the story didn’t really have much of a plot. There also wasn’t enough development to say it was a character driven book or vibes for an “all vibes no plot” book. My other issue was the storyline felt more like an adult book but the writing itself read like a middle grade book, so for some reason it got stuck in YA? The book just seemed like it didn’t know what it wanted to be unfortunately.

I was recommended this book but it just wasn't something that keep me reading. I kept getting bored with it.

It was cute.
But didn't feel at all like The Nightmare Before Christmas. Different vibes, but a nice read for someone much younger probably.
