This was a roller coaster with twists that I did not even fathom!!

Misery Lark, a vanpyre who lived among Humans for many years as the Vampyre  Collateral, who role was to act as leverage to prevent war and almost as a symbol for a truce. She’s never felt that she belonged anywhere. Not with the Humans who widely view vamps and blood sucking monsters who drain their victims dry and play with their corpses… She didn’t even belong with other Vamps at the Nest because they don’t accept her because she was “exposed to humans” for too long.
When her best friend Serena Paris goes missing from their joint apartment, Misery investigates and finds the name L E Moreland in the their secret language. This leads to Misery agreeing to marry Alpha Lowe Moreland in attempt to find out what became of Serena.

This was good…. The world building is different from other supernatural novels I’ve read. The extreme tension between Humans, Weres, and Vampyres and essentially constantly being on the brink of war, with the Collateral individuals being the only thing stopping it.

Their romance was slow, and one sided for a while. With all the animosity between species, Misery was unaware of so much of Were biology, customs, and life. It was so fun trying to decipher the mystery of what Serena was after and what Ana, Lowe’s little sister, has to do with it.

I liked watching Misery slowly allow herself to feel more emotion, to open up to Lowe more, to allow herself to like other people besides Serena. It makes complete sense given her upbringing.

Lowe is someone who is fair, trusting, and good at heart. I really like him. Ugh he is so cute, and unexpectedly anxious?? I did not see that coming in the book. I loved this book, the spice was very tasteful and matched where they were at in their relationship at the time. I loved this book!!

✨Book Review✨

Bride

Author: Ali Hazelwood

Rating: ♾️/5 😍

Spice: 4/5 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

““My smell. Do I smell like . . . ?” “Mine.” It’s a rumble in his throat. “You smell like you’re mine, Misery.”

He shakes his head, eyes burning into mine. “You’re not a problem, Misery. You’re a privilege.”

OBSESSED. I absolutely devoured this book. I tried to savor the book because I didn’t want it to be over.

There is not one thing in this book that I would change. Misery is the ultimate FMC. She was witty, funny, and brave. She was hilarious I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so much. She was so nonchalant and blunt. I adored her even more so when she started developing emotions.

Words cannot describe how much I love Lowe. He was selfless, strong, charming, and kindhearted. I am in love Lowe. Misery and Lowe’s chemistry is unmatched. The tension ?!? The banter flowed so naturally. The growth from the beginning to the end. From the plot to the banter, I literally could not put this book down. I was kicking my feet. I was talking out loud to myself. I haven’t felt like this about a book in a while. To say I loved this book is an understatement. If you have ever thought about reading this book do it, please.

There were parts that I liked about the world building, though it could have used more depth and then there was the plot which I thought was rather predictable.  It was first and foremost a romance but at times it tried to be a mystery and so it felt a bit choppy and displaced at times.  It was fine.

I loved this book! It was a little hard to follow in the beginning - trying to figure out who was talking/thinking; there is a weird use of pronouns (1st versus 3rd person) throughout the book. The story line was fun, a bit of a mystery, and a it had a good ending. Very spicy - written well. Kind of like a very grown up Twilight, except just vampires and werewolves (almost no humans). The romance part of the story builds and is primary to all the subplots. The characters have good arcs. Overall, a fun, spicy, paranormal romance.

Interesting world is created and the characters that occupy it. I found the start of the book a bit confusing, but you understand if you continue. I liked the female lead and how she grows in the story. Love the funny bits. The relationship gets quite graphic, so read the content warnings.
