Dit boek greep me vast, slokte me op. Ik zat met een tranen over m’n wangen te lezen in de trein. Jeetje, wat prachtig.

Felt a little like capitalist socialism propaganda, and I was never invested enough in the central characters and their relationship to feel anything as it fell apart.

So beautifully written. Heartbreaking story of politics, sexuality, and the tension between the two.

very interesting book about living in Poland when it was part of the Soviet Union.

Achingly beautiful and well-written.
The language is simple, yet still evokes emotions and vivid, mental images.
The young longing, and the fear of not being able to live authentically is spot-on.
Held it together for most of the book, but the last few pages had me bawling.
