I'm so angry! I had my whole review of this book typed out. I guess I clicked something or whatever and my whole review disappeared. I I'm so pissed. So now I'm retyping it and hopefully this doesn't happen again.

Okay, back to my review. Honestly, I went into this book with a self-fulling prophecy and I shouldn't have done that. I looked at the review of this book and I also heard that this book isn't everyone's favorite so I went in with those expectations and that's sadly what ended up happening. Now, a 3.75/5 isn't a bad rating at all, however considering I rated the previous books in this series 4.5 and above that's pretty low.

It doesn't help that I've been feeling a slight disconnect towards reading lately. Like it'll take me a bit to get into a book and even when I do I'm not obsessed with it. I miss the feeling of being obsessed with a book and lately that hasn't been happening.

I didn't really care for the romance in this book (or the sex). Cassandra as a FMC just didn't seem viable to me. There was nothing about her that interest me. I feel like we were told her personality instead of showed. In contrast, to Apollo who I liked. He was pretty different compared to the other main male characters in this series. He's literally a cinnamon roll compared to the other men. So it was nice reading about him, but I couldn't care less for Cassandra so the romance fell pretty flat for me. And because I didn't care for the romance, I didn't care for the sex either. It actually felt pretty underwhelming to me.

And I think that's the best way I could describe this book and that is underwhelming. I don't know if it's due to reading the three previous book (not back to back), but Cassandra literally feels the same to me. And the story literally starts off the same too. Having the FMC, Haye Olympus and we get a whole paragraph and more of how Olympus sucks and the people sucks and the Thirteen suck and that everyone's power hungry, blah blah blah. Like yeah, we get it. We've been through this for three books. We know Olympus sucks I don't need the characters going on tangent about how loathsome it is to be there. So that's aspect annoyed me because it just felt repetitive from the previous books.

I will give Katee this, I do enjoy that each book has a different plot to it. I wasn't really viking with the workplace romance until they got to the mansion and they were playing this scavenger hunt-like game while also trying to solve a murder mystery. Although stuff like that wasn't fleshed out too much, I did enjoy the bits that we did get.

There are some people that didn't enjoy Hermes plot thread in this book and I'm not one of those people. I feel like her shenanigans were so on brand for her and she was honestly my Saving grace for this book. Hermes is honestly the MVP of this whole series. I wonder what her end game was with Minos and who she was looking for and why. I'm not gonna lie, I'm still lost on the Minos plot thread and aside from the barrier depleting how that spells major trouble for Olympus.

Overall, this book was fine, but it obviously was my least favorite of the series. I really hope that this as just a hiccup and that I'll continue to enjoy the rest of the books in this series.

Spice Level: 🌶🌶🌶/5 (always love how consent, safety, and comfortability are prioritized in these books😌)

Note: I don't know what it is, but the female narrator wasn't doing it for me this time around. Whichs is weird cuz they're literally the same person that narrates all her other books.

I truly enjoy this series a lot. The spice mixed with the political intrigue and drama is very fun. I especially loved that Apollo is so kind and loving while still being dominant and sexy. I love that Cassandra is a force to be reckoned with and that at least Apollo always believes and sees her even if the others don't. Oh and of course I absolutely loved that Cassandra is plus-sized and beautiful!

Mutual pinning ahhh. In love. Loved the characterisation of both Apollo and Cassandra. The underlining plot line is so good, cant wait for the next one.

Eh. It’s no where near as good as Neon Gods, but it’s still good. I like a good mystery as much as the next reader, especially when it takes on a Clue plot.

I wish there was more character development behind Cassandra and Apollo, at least more than insta-love.
