2nd in Jackson's Buxom Boudoir series, we follow Samantha Sawyer, ever-capable assistant at BB, is learning how to adjust her life after having her thyroid removed, but for some reason Russell Montgomery doesn't care about the changes she's gone through, because he's still pursuing her with the same fervor as always. When it turns out that they'll both be working the festival circuit for the mobile versions of their respective employers, Sam begins to thaw to the idea of a summer fling. But they quickly discover that this thing between them is anything but casual.
This was the blend of heart and hot that I usually like, although I feel like it was maybe a smidge more focused on the issues outside of their relationship chemistry than I would have preferred. Still the characters were all interesting and I'll probably go back and read another story in the series.

It was steamy which I enjoyed lmao but idk the writing wasn’t great 🙈 I felt like the characters were all very 2d and all their motivations were always like stated outright

I love Danielle Jackson's books and the fact it takes me so long to read her stuff reflects more how slow of an eyeball reader I am than the quality of the book.
I absolutely love that her books are set in Chicago, that she picks different tropes for each book, and friendships are an important element too. If you like contemporary romance - and especially when she's grumpy and he's sunshine - read this book!

I tried SO hard to want to like this book. This book could have been half as long without all the repetitive chapters. Do yourself a favor and don’t waste your time on this book.

Similar to the first novel in this series, this was a fairly easy to read romance. The characters were endearing and the dynamic between the MCs was great. However, I still had a problem with the constant mentioning of how awesome everyone is and how good they are at their jobs. I also still struggled with the taste level. Everything seemed very tacky and the food did t sound that creative. This could have been over looked if it wasn’t a main part of the characters “awesomeness”.

If you’re looking for a diverse, short and easy read I would recommend this one. It’s a perfect summer read that has family drama, career growth and romance in it as well. Loved how the fmc learned to love her body and self after some medical issues. The romance was okay, it was sweet but I wasn’t as invested. Some of the things the characters did irritated me but overall this was an okay read with great female friendships and character growth.
Read if you like:
- Diverse romance
- Workplace romance
- Plus size fmc rep
- Nice female friendships
