Good and in-depth look at futuristic technologies. The audio version was pretty good, but I think Eric Idle would have made a better narrator. This was a pretty-good narration, but a Python would have made it sensational.
...Plus Eric Idle loves science!

Funny and easily comprehensible takes on the near maybe futures. Did not make me feel any better about the relationship among science, resource extraction, and human rights.

This is all really interesting information delivered at just the right level of complexity. The humor, frequent section breaks, and cartoons made a great book for reading just a couple pages at a time on lunch breaks.
I'll be repeating the ruby red grapefruit fact at people for months.

The best, clearest lay science writing in recent history. With cartoons. Highly recommended for absolutely everyone.

I grabbed this book in the hopes it would be similar to the science books written by cartoonist Randall Munroe, the creator of the xkcd internet comics. The authors of this book have their own widely popular internet comic, Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal, that I also enjoy, hence my logic that I would like this. The problem here is that they just missed the mark on the humor aspect of the book and got way too in depth with the technology. It's not that the book was bad, I just really struggled to get through a number of the chapters because they were just going too deeply into topics that I just didn't care about. The interspersed comics were mostly amusing and relevant to the topics at hand, but just weren't enough.

This book was amazing. I knew after the first 3 pages I was going to love it and I did!

Thoroughly enjoyed Soonish - both the humor and the compelling, informative dives into technology subjects. Maybe we can get a sequel in 20 years to see how things play out!
