I thought I was really going to enjoy this but I did not. It felt too much like reading a History and Science Book at the same time. I wanted a fresh, short look on the true history and their explanations were a bit long, tedious and winding. The explanation would start on one topic and end on another topic. It would be a great book for the History buffs out there.

I really enjoy random facts and etymology, so this book was really great to me. The random comments from the TV show could have been left out.

At first glance a fun trivia book based on a tv-show, but it seems like they didn't have anyone to proofread this particular edition at all. Confusing sentences, sometimes whole words missing and answers rambling into a completely different topic (or was that supposed to be funny? I couldn't tell)... They even included a copy pasted link instead of publishing a photo! They had no sources at the end of the book, so I'd encourage you to take these facts with a grain of salt.

The absolutely worst part was when they compared the word "sámis" to "chavs". This book was clearly general ignorance.

All the stuff you think you know? It is wrong! Such as:
* How many senses does a human have? Not five but at least nine: sight, hearing, smell, touch, taste, plus senses of heat, balance, pain, and body awareness.
* What did feminists do with bras? No burn them. They just dumped them in a Freedom Trash Can with "heels, tweezers, curlers, & other female trappings. They planned to burn but didn't because it was on a wood boardwalk."

I read about half but some of the Q&As were just obscure and I found myself thinking "How do you know that is right?" and "Matter of interpretation!"

All-in-all: An okay diversion for trivia nuts who are not bothered when sources are NOT cited.

Nice little snippets of interesting facts that are pretty much the opposite of what you would think. Great book for coffee table or bathroom.
