Audiobook. While there were some truly funny moments in this book, I felt kind of conned. What I thought at first was going to be an embellished memoir got increasingly chaotic and ridiculous. Turning it into just a really long sketch, most of which I didn’t find all that good. Which makes me sad. Because I have typically enjoyed his humor.
You realize rather quickly that this isn’t really a memoir. It’s a bizarre satire rooted in (possibly) true stories. Some are very obviously made up. I liked the quirkiness initially. MacDonald is funny and self-deprecating, but then things get dark and disturbing. It was a bit much, IMO. And as the “ghostwriter” character popped in more and more, I enjoyed the story less and less. A weird read for sure.
The title is accurate. Basically stories from his life, but written as a stand-up act. Definitely funny in parts, but some truthful stories about SNL/etc would be more interesting. No clue what is real or not in here.

I will always remember Norm MacDonald and how he trolled OJ Simpson for years after the Nicole Brown Simpson murder. He’s mostly funny, but this audiobook got a bit long in the tooth by the end. Some of the longer running bits are outdated, and I do think he apologized for that before he died. Ultimately, this is a quick listen (or read) that shouldn’t be taken too seriously.

I can see why people didn't like it - but I had fun listening to him tell his tale! 4.25
