Phenomenally hilarious, wildly absurd, immensely stupid... a perfect read for someone in the mood to go on an all-absorbing nonsensical journey smattered with occasionally insightful tidbits of reality. A "memoir" written by Norm, for Norm fans. Highly recommend listening to the self-narrated audiobook! Kept me great company on a recent roadtrip.

A four-hour version of those shaggy dog jokes Norm would tell on Conan. Brilliant.

Incredibly surreal, witty, and literate.

You should read the book then take this quiz:
a. Some of this book is true
b. Most of this book is exaggerated to the point of BS
c. Hopefully, for the sake of Norm's soul, some of this book is outright lies
c. This book is hilarious
d. This book has a surprisingly absorbing plot

My answer is "yes".

If you want to hear Norm tell fun and credible inside stories from his life and career, you will be met with frustration as you try to sift fact from the exaggerations (fabrications) that color this "based on a true story". However, if you don't care about Norm's life (which you shouldn't really because even if he told you the truth he'd just do it with a droll smirk that disavowed everything he said) and just let him be a comedian and writer (which you should because he is excellent at that), you'll find that he has enough guts to tell you things that would make you hate him and enough wit to make you laugh out loud multiple times while reading about them.
