I wanted to like this so much more. I did like this so much until the last 20% of the book. It is unfathomable to me that I’m supposed to believe
Alexis AND Amy AND Kelly AND Briana are pregnant at the same time. What’s in the water in this place???
I liked the mental health representation and how this book handled chronic illness but at times it felt like inclusive language and situations were thrown in just to be checked off of some list.

This books was so beautiful I found myself crying at some points because wow. It was very well written with lovable characters, good plot, good chemistry and good banter.
The anxiety rep with Jacob is really what got me, I felt so seen. I’ve never been formally diagnosed with anything so whenever I do little things like googling a restaurant before going out to eat with friends so I’m less uncomfortable and more at ease when I get there, I don’t think too much about it. Just me being me. Seeing something as small as that in a book really touched the heart strings and made me understand Jacob as a character.
Brianna my Queen. She was such a great side character in Part of your world that seeing her get her happily ever after with Jacob in this book really was so beautiful because girl has been through a LOT, damn Abby.
These two just work and their connection just makes sense and the journey was not easy but it sure as hell was a good one to read about😂.

That being said, the miscommunication, or rather lack of communication was a bit hard to get through at times. I had to read this on kindle majority of the time so wouldn’t get violent with the pages, there was so many moments when I just sat there thinking “If they just talked we would have saved 50 pages of this mental turmoil” because it really did become a broken record of “is this real? Would she love me if…? Does he really love me?” And while I totally understand why they both felt this way and couldn’t just ask the questions to each other instead of LEAPING to conclusions (I’m looking at you Bri), it was still a bit of a drag to read about considering I REALLY enjoyed seeing them just be a couple and wanted to read more of that rather than the continuous spirals.
That alone is the reason this wasn’t 5 stars for me, I even enjoyed the mention of tiktok, which normally despise in books😂.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book. It was sort of slow/medium paced depending on what you look at. There was moments I would get frustrated with the characters, but I would also look at what was going on from their perspectives. This is my second Abby Jimenez book and I have to say it’s probably my favorite atm.

This book was incredibly touching. It has tropes that I typically don’t like, most notably the miscommunication trope, but I think it was well-done and I didn’t absolutely hate it. I loved the characters in this book. The FMC is strong, independent, and thoughtful (very relatable) and the MMC is introverted, kind, and adoring. I found myself feeling that the love story was somewhat relatable…there are so many nuggets of truth and wisdom buried in this book. The plot is silly — fake lovers — but it’s so cute you can’t help but smile. There are some heavy parts too that really felt sincere and made me cry. The spice level is low, but the storytelling makes up for it.

The two main characters' social anxiety and trust issues made the usual "misunderstanding" trope plausible and not silly.

This book was beautifully written, with tender moments and dynamic characters. I adore Jacob! I really appreciate the author’s efforts to write contemporary romances that aren’t tragic but still have emotional components and some trauma/personal growth required of the characters. Bri really bothered me though in the second half of the book because she was hyper fixating on one assumption she made and she disregarded everything else in front of her face. It made it harder to feel like she was still speaking Jacob’s language like she had earlier in the story. Overall, I loved this book, though parts of it ripped my heart out and I couldn’t get to the happy ending fast enough to recover emotionally.
