At the Coffee Shop of Curiosities is my first read by author Heather Webber and it won't be my last. Magical realism is a hit or miss genre for me, but the way Webber was able to masterfully intertwine the characters together and develop such depth in each story kept me hooked from start to finish. I also felt the rotating points of view were also written well and I liked that each POV picked up or started fresh with no rehashing.
Overall I throughout enjoyed the story and wouldn't mind a sequel...which I won't write out because I don't want to spoil anything but Webber will know what I mean.
Thank you Forge Books for gifting me a copy to review.

This was a very standard 'cozy' story with a 'everyone is special' vibe. It felt very YA in its logic and character flows. Nearly all of the characters are adults, but they are all quite awful at communication. It was a reflection of how teens believe adults to be as they develop their communication skills, versus how most adults actually are.
I hesitate to give it less than 3 stars, because although I didn't care for it, I do think that this book will be well received and loved among the many who read it. If you enjoyed Jane The Virgin, you will very much enjoy this one.
The audiobook narration was done exceptionally.
Thank you NetGalley and Macmillan Audio for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

This book felt like a season of The Good Witch. A warm cup of coffee on a cold morning. Porch swings. A good nights sleep. A trip that fills your soul…
This is only my second book by Heather and definitely not my last. Here are some bits that just warmed my heart…
A mysterious want ad
Small coastal Alabama town
Beachside cottage
A coffee and curiosity shop
A subtle touch of magic
A town full of charming characters
A dash a mystery
This book had a bit of everything I look for in a comfort read. It’s really hard to put into words how comforting it was and how this fictional town will win your heart. If any of this sounds good I say immediately add it to your TBR you will not be disappointed.

This book was a complicated read. The sentences didn’t flow, and I felt that there was an overwhelming amount of information happening all of the time. Constant character development and even sub-character development, that felt dizzying. I struggled to fully fall into the storyline. The characters were believable but not well executed.
This story gave me ALLLLL the feels! It made me want to live in this small town and make this community my own. The characters are full of realness and deep connections, lots of positivity and love. A teensy twist I never saw coming, and just everything I could hope for in a story I'm reading strictly to stir my happy heart.
Heather Webber is an incredible author, and I've been a fan for many years. I simply must add this one to my collection of her small town magical stories. I highly recommend this book to anyone with romance in their heart, and sweet bit of magic in their soul.
Thank you to NetGalley, Forge Books, and especially Heather Webber for allowing me to read this wonderful magically sweet book. It may just be my new favorite.

This is the book I didn't know I needed!
Balm to my soul.
Ever had a book that you consider the perfect prescription? One that comes to you at JUST the right time?
This book was like that for me.
I’m not an avid reader of magical realism, but every book of Heather Webber’s that I read, I really enjoy.
In short, this is about characters who have experienced loss and are grieving, are in search of new beginnings and/or are in the process of transforming. It’s a gentle hug, reminding readers that the sun will shine again.
Things I loved:
✔️eccentric customers; scowling old woman with a birdcage veil and gothic exterior, man who continuously ordered what wasn’t on the menu
✔️Alastair, Norman and his quabarks and Cluck-cluck the black chicken
✔️references to metamorphosis and butterflies
✔️"Cinnamon rolls are God’s gift to humans.”
Advice I can learn from:
✔️Don’t allow fear to run your life
✔️Embrace our differences and allow the extraordinary to shine through
✔️Don’t hide in the shadows
✔️Loss affects people differently
✔️Learn to love yourself
Things that made me think:
✔️We’re all on borrowed time
✔️Don’t waste time trying to figure out ‘why’
✔️Everyone deserves a chance to fly
✔️Don’t allow loss to become a guidepost for most of your life
✔️Ambiguous loss
“Lordy Mercy” this is a great book and a wonderful gift to those who are hurting, grieving, looking to change or are hesitant about change. It’s also about the joy of found family and would be great for those who are lonely.

I’ve read other books by this author that I enjoyed. This book, while well-written, the story was boring and dragged on. It was also completely predictable. There were many characters introduced without much detail and the main characters had repetitive story lines. I would recommend her other books over this one.
Heather Webber never disappoints. Maggie’s and Ava’s stories are as captivating as the quirky little town of Driftwood that they both live in. Set on the seaside with a cast of unforgettable characters - my favorites are Dez, Estrelle, and Norman the dog - Webber has once again created another small, magical town for readers to fall in love with. Her books are always the “hop in and enjoy the magical ride” sort and this one is no different.
This is a hard one to review without giving away spoilers. All I can really say is that I’d absolutely love to discuss it with you, should you choose to read it. :)

This was a wonderful, story that sucked me in from the beginning. Getting to know the small town and its cast of characters was a pleasant surprise. And the writing...I felt like I could smell my way thorough this book. It was delightful. It would also make a great book club book as I feel there would be a lot to discuss. Oh, and the magical realism was a nice touch. (I think this may be my new favorite genre.)
