3/5
It's a cute read, but didn't stand out to me as anything remarkable.
This is a split narrative book, with Ava and Maggie as the main characters. They both are working through their struggles, with Ava trying to find an identity outside of her medical issues, and Maggie dealing with the unresolved grief of the loss of her mother.
There was a whole cast of quirky and loveable characters, and it was an easy read. I personally found this book to have major Hallmark vibes, and that's the main reason it received 3/5 stars from me. If you want a book that neatly ties up at the end, and with predictable plot twists, then this is the book for you. I wasn't amazed by it, but it was primarily due to personal preferences in the types of books I enjoy. This was toted as a fantasy book, and while it had a few fantastical elements, I wouldn't put it in a fantasy category.
I read this via audiobook, and I thought that the talent did an excellent job, and I liked how they had two different narrators for Maggie and Ava.
I received an ARC in exchange for my honest review.
