2.5✨ this book was pretty mediocre from its writing, plot, character development, and overall vibe. Some moments were sweet — but almost so sweet it made my teeth hurt. It wasn’t my vibe but might be for someone else!

Curiosity got me to read this book. Who doesn’t like a good coffee shop with the alluring aroma of beans? This story is charming and a fun adventure.
There are two characters that have extraordinary gifts. Estrelle, dressed in black lace has a stitchery shop. She knows a person’s past and sometimes gives them words of wisdom to get them on the right path.
Ava is able to hear and smell as well as a dog. She can detect smoke and hear music from a distance. She admits her life has been sheltered and has to get away from the fear she carries inside.
The coffee shop is managed by Maggie. It’s the best place to hear gossip in this small town.
The book starts when Ava showed up looking for a job. The advertisement for it was in her mailbox and she was ready for a change in her life. Maggie remembers typing up the job description and tossing it in the trash. How was it possible that Ava in Cincinnati, Ohio found this piece of crumbled up paper with the job listing in Driftwood, Alabama?
However, she instantly had a good feeling about Ava. She takes her to meet her father, Dez, and now Ava works a part time at the coffee shop and as a caretaker for her father. There’s never a dull moment for her with secrets that are unveiled.
Estrelle said, “If continuously looking behind, you risk missing the possibilities that lie ahead.” The book is nonstop and a story everyone can enjoy.

This was a cute easy read. There is still a big question for me about the ending because I didn’t find it very clear, but oh well.

It was alright! Cute, cozy, a touch of magic. The ending with Estrelle didn't make any sense, it was a bit too vague and mysterious. Norman and Molly were my favorites, I didn't care as much about what the humans were doing. If you wanna read something sweet and low stakes this is a good one, just don't expect too much out of it.
