This one needs to be approached with a huge trigger warning for child abuse, animal abuse and alcoholism.
For anyone who can read these themes without causing harm to their mental health this story is a fascinating dream like dive into childhood wonder. To be fully present in the moment and naive to the darkness around.
The audio version narrated by the author felt like a stream of consciousness processing of the past and acknowledgement of how we construct, deconstruct and reconstruct love in response to people older than ourselves.

It's not that it was BAD, it was just more off putting than enjoyable. Several content warnings for on page child abuse, animal abuse, alcoholism, and references to same.
