This reminded me of how much I love Marie Lu (not that I needed any reminding but still). There's something about her stories that's so much more unique and unconventional compared to other YA stories that I just love. Particularly in this case, I really liked the ending and thought the wrap up of events was done very well.

Emika Chen is SUCH a good main character. She's smart, thoughtful and never loses sight of who she is and what she wants even when the world around her is being turned upside down. I love the exploration of her relationship with Hideo, and, I like that Hideo isn't simply a love interest. There's much more to him as a character, and I love his development from this nice guy billionaire to a morally grey 'villain'. I also have to give a shoutout to Tremaine, who I didn't like in Warcross, but man did he pull through in this one!

I didn't see a lot of the twists coming, which of course, is ideal. While I felt the pacing was a bit slower (but that may be because I kept on getting interrupted), Lu still keeps you hooked throughout the book.

The world-building was fantastic, as in the first one. You can really picture this high-tech neon world of Tokyo, with the overlying images from the Neurolink just adding to the grandeur of this sci-fi universe.

Overall this was a great sequel! The ending tied everything up really nicely and left you smiling, if not wanting more! Highly recommend this duology if you're looking for something a bit different with an awesome female MC and crazy world building.

Not as good as the first one but I really like this universe. I really wished this had soared in the way j was hoping it would.

This is honestly a hard review for me to write. I never really know how to put my feelings about a book into a review because the book either left me speechless or empty.

This one made me feel nothing. And I feel so bad about not liking this book because of how much I enjoyed Warcross, and because of how much love I have for this author.

But I guess you can't win 'em all.

What I liked about this book:

Unpredictable, as beautifully written the perfect end the a series.

Action packed book that I couldn’t put down. The sequel to Warcross did not disappoint!

was a little ridiculous at times but ended very well! made me emotional
