Don’t know that I would say it’s Lewis’ best book but I still enjoyed this! I’ve read critiques of this book that say it’s a “love letter to SBF” or views him as a neutral character. My response would be, just because Lewis doesn’t explicitly say he’s a criminal doesn’t mean you’re supposed to come away thinking highly of SBF. My personal take is this book is a great lesson on what it looks like when you’re too smart for your own good to an extreme degree. Reminds me of an Orwell quote I read recently that says there are some ideas which are so dumb only intellectuals believe them. It doesn’t 100% apply but feels like it captures some of what Lewis is saying about SBF.

Critiques would be that not enough time is spent on the collapse of FTX. He explains it pretty well but I would have liked more detail or to have that sprinkled more throughout the narrative.

An interesting perspective on the FTX debacle. Well written and intriguing but I’m still left not sure what to make of the whole thing, because I feel like I’m missing information. The financial explanations were also not very “beginner friendly - assumed a certain level of knowledge with investment lingo.
