This book is SOOOOOO AMAZING! I've been wanting to read this for a while and finally got to for a school project. This book can be related to and read by people of all types. It uses the N-word a few times as well as some cuss words, but it's not super bad. It's also a super heart-breaking story about a young girl who struggles with the death of her friend, police brutality, gang violence, relationships, and her identity around specific people. She feels like she can't always be her true self around certain people.

i liked this book a lot because its very informative about what goes on in black neighborhoods and black families basically black people in general. i think everyone should read this book if you aren’t triggered by the things mentioned ofc. (especially white people should read it)

Emotional, political and radically accessible. The Hate U Give is an essential novel that is living proof of the importance of YA fiction and it’s presence at the forefront of literature amongst other stories that it would be a disservice not to share.

Angie Thomas crafts an engaging narrative full of strong and complex characters that demand to be heard. I adored this book for so many different reasons (masterful dialogue and stellar character development included) but mostly for its ability to place power and knowledge into the hands of young people.

This book tackles complex issues of race, identity, responsibility, love and choice with devour-able tenacity.
