3.5 stars, rounded up for nostalgia’s sake, because this was one of my childhood favorites.

News flash from 1979: This book is really good! I’m not usually one for JF or for mysteries, but this was fun.

I’d say this is one of the first books (when I was in middle school) for the plot that was a full punch in the face. A mystery book to its finest, and one that has us try to solve the murder of an eccentric man who put so many strangers in his will. Crazy exciting.

It almost feels like a kid version of Knives Out.
