Should you read it? 10/10 YES

I would call this one a character-driven, fantasy, new adult fiction. The author manages to introduce a healthy cast of main characters while keeping the book true to our main character, Kell. You read this book as his book and his journey and ultimately you want his desires and feel the weight of his burdens as he smuggles his way through the different Londons.

The voices in the audiobook kinda threw me off. Wasn't a fan of Holland or Lila talking...... Excited for the second one tho

maybe vicious just ruined me beforehand, but i really wouldve liked if lila and kell had been suspicious of each other for a longer time. i really didnt enjoy how fast these 2 werent even reluctant allies and especially for lila, it feels out of character to trust someone that fast to the point where it felt forced. i especially hated that it moved into the romance category as fast as it did.

however, what i can say is that i really enjoyed the magic system and the worldbuilding and i really wanna know more about black london and what will happen with white london now!

This book has such an interesting premise but has very unlikable characters. Multiple Londons and a resurfacing of a dark type of magic had the makings of a very fun read but I had no emotional attachment to any of the characters which seems to be trend about my feelings towards V E Schwabs writing style. I found Lila to be intolerable! I’ve heard the rest of the series gets better so I will still give the 2nd one a chance!
