slow-paced

I was obsessed with the music video. Utterly obsessed. Maybe I would've liked this book then, back when I lived on tumblr and was just starting to figure my sexuality out. Now? The book felt so slow (on 3x speed), there was random music or atmospheric noise but not consistently, and maybe I'm too old for teen angst that's not nostalgic. I felt more from the music video than this unfortunately.

Am I bad person if I wished Coley ditched Sonya?
Idk man, something about Sonya just seemed so toxic. I know they were trying to make her look insecure about her sexuality etc. But that, on top of that she is kind of a bitch, gave me pure toxicity. I did not expect the story to go as it did at all. I thought it would be more rose-coloured glasses and happier, but it was kind of on the dark side.

I originally gave it 4 stars because I was worried I was being biased because of my love for Hayley and the song Girls Like Girls. But I read it again, and fuck it! 5 stars! I love this book I love the message I love the obvious emotion Hayley put into writing this. All of it is fantastic and I love it. I girls can pick this up and feel seen in the same way that I do as a 21-year-old reading this book. And I know that's what Hayley wants too.
