Firstly, I am so glad this exists. This is EVERYTHING 16 year old me would have wanted and for that I am so thankful.

Girls like girls, the song, was such an important part of my life & coming out so to be able to read a whole novel based off the song is a dream come true.

Having said that, is this the most polished book? Does it have well rounded, believable characters and thought provoking dialogue? No. It does deal with some heavy themes and I do think they were dealt with beautifully, but I feel like there was so much more that could have been done. There was so many questions left unanswered and so many plot points that we never saw the end of.

This was a good book and it gets points for being the lesbian coming of age book we all dreamed of many years ago.

Don’t go into this thinking this will be revolutionary or have the most powerful prose & well developed characters and I reckon you’ll have a great time reading this.

I love how this book shows very different parts of life as a queer person and someone who can't accept the death of a loved one.

Cloey was someone who was brave but didn't want to show it because she was scared of losing everything. Even at the start she didn't trust her father but as the book goes on we can see how similar their situation ended up and that brought them closer.

Sonya on the other half was someone who is lost and scared, I think she was a perfect person to show it how difficult it can be to accept who you really are and finally let go of everyone that's toxic.

I love them both since they're just showing how difficult life is no matter age, gender or sexuality.

after years of watching girls like girls on youtube, ive finally found this book and i was radiant. as i read it, it disappointed me: the whole miscommunication trope was bad, the characters couldve had more development and the ending was rushed.
started as a book i thought i would keep with me forever, similar to the music video, but it really fell short.
