I have been in a book slump the past few weeks, "Only For the Week" has pulled me out of it!

I truly love this book. It was funny, sexy, and messy! I don't mind drama in my books at all, I think Natasha, the author, did a great job of creating very dynamic characters with a past! Certain chapters ended on "wtf" moments, so I had to keep reading. Overall, I just love that this is a story about a plus size Black woman finally putting herself and her needs first. It's also about a Black man that isn't afraid to love hard and be vulnerable as well. I can't wait to read more of this series!

“He rented a whole yacht just so she could read… and then started reading with her. If that’s not love, I don’t know what is.”

📖 Synopsis:
Janelle is used to being the overlooked, middle child. When her younger sister Eve announces she’s marrying Janelle’s ex-boyfriend, it’s just another reminder of where she ranks in her family’s eyes. Tired of being disrespected and dismissed, Janelle agrees to attend the destination wedding in Miami—but only on her terms. She’s planning to keep her distance, soak in some sun, and mind her business. But when Rome, a charming and attentive man she meets in Miami, offers to keep her company for the week, things start to shift. What was supposed to be a temporary connection for the duration of the wedding turns into something much deeper.

My Thoughts:
This book was tender, romantic, and full of heart, but let me just say this: Rome is the blueprint. Not only did he respect Janelle’s space and boundaries—he enhanced them. When he rented an entire yacht just so she could read in peace and then cracked open a book beside her? BABY. I ascended.

Now let’s talk about the real antagonist here: her family. The way her mother and sister constantly gaslit her had me heated. Eve had the audacity to call Janelle jealous when she was marrying Janelle’s ex?! Make it make sense. I was so proud of Janelle for finally standing her ground and speaking her truth. Watching her choose herself—despite the guilt, manipulation, and emotional neglect—was the most satisfying part of her arc.

This wasn’t just a week of romance in the sun—it was a reclamation. Janelle learned she’s worthy of love that doesn’t come with conditions. That she deserves to be seen, chosen, and prioritized.

Rome and Janelle’s connection? Instant but intentional. This book was a warm hug and a deep exhale—Only for the Week gave me everything I wanted and then some.

Rome Martin has secured himself as my top book boyfriend.

Seeing Janelle, a plus size Black queen, being loved out loud and STOOD for was so beautiful to witness. I cried multiple times during this book, and I already wanna go back with my people.

10/10. 5 ⭐️. Pick this book up now.

I enjoyed reading this, the characters each had personality and I thought the dynamic between everyone was hilarious.
