"Is it too late for us to change our minds?" Prince Jake asked.
Galuit looked alarmed.
<It is humour,> I said quickly. <Human humour often consists of pretending to wish something one does not really wish.>
"What makes you so sure I don't mean it?" Prince Jake muttered.
<More humour,> I explained to Galuit.

I would have rated this slightly higher but the setup for the plot ends up feeling very strange. Still, after the beginning, it is fast-paced and reveals a lot of exciting information that could play into big things later in the series.

This was one of the more adventurous Animorphs novels so far, taking us more into alien settings and interactions. I also really liked the theme of this one, which revolved around loyalty toward the people who treat you well vs people who simply share your ethnicity or nationality. Not to mention, the narration in Ax's books is always a little more entertaining than those of the other characters, since you're getting an alien's perspective on everything that is happening. I think we're officially beyond where I got with the series as a kid, and I'm really enjoying the new adventures.

Interesting development for Ax, deciding where his loyalties lie (with his people or with the Animorphs). And some more delving into their roles, especially with that psychic Leeran morph.

I'm not a massive fan of the Ax books and I found the story a bit lacking. It was bumped up to 3 stars because it picked up pace when they entered a 'foreign' world.
