I think this book encapsulated well living with OCD, thanks to John Green's personal experience with it. There were many, many moments that were very quoteable and I found profound and intriguing.

Personally, Davis' character resonated the most with me despite Aza's OCD and I thought that his character was written well. In general, I thought all characters were well thought out, especially for the majority of main characters being teenagers.

I liked the complexity of relationships between characters and especially seeing how this was expressed in regards to Aza's OCD.
The ending of her relationship with Davis was sad but ultimately necessary in showing the effects mental illness can have on relationships, and also clarified the integrity in his character. Hope he becomes real one day. I think the .25 off a 5 star review is payback for the watering down of Davis' character in the movie.

Seriously, a great book that I literally ate in a few days, will definitely reread as is accurate representation and very interesting.

I read this book years ago but finally bought a copy and decided to reread, and I still love it to this day.
I do think it is advertised weirdly, though! This isn't centered around the "mystery" of the book- it is almost 100% centered around the main character, but not in a bad way, just in a mental health way.
I personally have OCD and anxiety, and this book is the best representation I have ever found. Aza's thought spirals and intrusive thoughts are presented so accurately. It's so easy to get stuck in your head with disorders like this- your doctors tell you it's just a thought and to "find the originator", but it's turtles all the way down. There is no originator with intrusive thoughts.
I will mention - and I did not have this warning my first read - if you have OCD or anxiety, this may be triggering. The entire book is Aza's perspective and we see her thoughts displayed in extreme detail. There are also multiple instances where she self harms
and a few where she consumes hand sanitizer
. If you're easily triggered by detailed mental health writing like this, I would recommend avoiding this book.

As, at the persistent request of her best friend, Daisy, investigates the disappearance of billionaire Russell Pickett, mostly for the $100,000 reward, but also because she wants to help her former friend, Davis, and his little brother, Noah. She tries her best to do the right thing by everyone, her mom, her friends, even her teachers, she she is fighting a very real battle within herself that is quickly taking over her every thought and will eventually take her to an extremely dangerous place before she finally has to admit it’s out of control and she needs help.

Great representation of OCD and exposure for those who don’t really know what OCD is. But story was good, but not mind blowing.
