This book is intended to completely wreck you. And it did. In the last freaking page I am in tears. This is everything it needed to be. If you loved the hunger games… read this. It’s the most perfect prequel.

Was it fun to get a more in-depth background on Haymitch? Yes. Was a re-telling of the politics of the Capitol and how the games work necessary? No. If you’ve read the original Hunger Games, you have basically read this book. I saw a reviewer say that it’s just a book written for fans who are nostalgic and cameos of already known characters are thrown in because fans would be excited about it. 
It was fun to be in the world again but also felt like I already knew what was going to happen.
