This was a 5 star for me up until I got to the last 50-100 pages. The conflict didn't feel well resolved and the way certain characters behaved really unsettled me. Spoilery explanation below.

honestly I love Ethan but it feels like his brother was given the #metoo treatment and he just didn't believe his girlfriend? Which is absolutely horrifying?!? How can you trust he'll ever believe you again? And I'm sorry I don't care how cool Ami is with it is nobody gonna address the elephant in the room about Dane and Ami at Olive's wedding? No? Overall that was my beef. The stakes were actually pretty high for a conflict and should have had pretty massive consequences with irreparable damage done, but it was easily waved off. I also just don't like how they handled the infidelity. Even if it wasn't the romantic leads experiencing infidelity, it still feels weird to read in a romance

Pros: Very relatable and funny female lead. Really sweet relationship* between the two characters. For me, loved the MN representation. It's impressive considering neither author is from the area how local it felt. Sex scenes are implied rather than shown and it works well.

Cons: almost impossible to say without spoiling. But suffice to say some strange choices were made that I'm not enthusiastic about.

Started off finding the protagonist pretty intolerable and I found myself rolling my eyes a bit, but eventually warmed to the story and characters as it progressed. A cute rom-com and fun palette cleanser after reading a heavy thriller and heart wrenching novel back to back! Would recommend if you're looking for something light-hearted and easy. Finished in a day.

  • Olive and Ethan are so fun together! Their banter is fun and I love how they call each variations of their own names.
  • It seemed like they had some misconceptions about each other, which caused the misguided notions. They clearly like to bicker and compete with each other. To me they weren’t exactly enemies.
  • Olive and Ethan remind me of Mia and Nicholas from the movie The Princess Diaries 2 (especially the “I loathe you” and kiss scene!)
  • The timing of the comedic and dramatic scenes are so on point
  • I definitely understand why Christina Lauren books are so popular! This one specifically had a lot of charm, romance, humor.
  • Olive’s family is so supportive and protective of each other.
  • The epilogue is amazing and I loved it!
  • The drama between Ami and Dane. OMG. I didn’t see it coming but I’m not surprised either. I immediately got bad vibes from Dane. I think it’s interesting that they were together from the beginning but Olive and Ethan are meant to be.
  • I didn’t like or understand the obsession with boobs and body parts in this book. It was too repetitive about them. Like we get it, Olive has big boobs and Ethan is attractive. However, I’m not opposed to reading other Christina Lauren books.

i liked reading it but i hated the part where they automatically fell inlove when olive didn’t even feel the same until he told her he wanted to go out with her (except ig liking him as a person in their trip 💀) and hated how ethan chose to believe his douchey brother being openly gross abt women even tho it was so OBVIOUS

anyways still cute read

1) if a guy is rude to you he really just likes you.
2) did you know that Ethan has reallllyyyyy long eyelashes????
3) I think Lauren might hate women a little bit.
4) About 75% through this light hearted book took a sharp right turn into "well you thought he harrassed you but are you sure that's what happened???" It was fucking vile and disgusting, and both Ethan and Amy should've got yeeted into a volcano.

enjoyed the majority, lost me in the last 90 pages. such a tone shift to create an unnecessary third-act conflict

This book is an easy read, pretty entertaining in the first half, but loses momentum quickly and has a pretty problematic plot as far as the romance goes. It’s enemies to lovers/misunderstandings, but it’s over-simplified and doesn’t have realistic “obstacles” for the characters.
way too much victim blaming and not believing the main character when her brother in law comes onto her. It’s reconciled at the end, but totally just glosses over it like it was a small misunderstanding. all the trust flew out the window and it’s like “nbd, he’s still so cute” like what. Also, I don’t like how many people took low blows at the main character’s personality—she also gets fired from a much-needed job because of this dude and I didn’t feel like that way necessary.
. Would not rec this book—read a summary, and save your time.
