Nothing really surprised me in this book, not because of the writing (it was good), but because plot was very predictable and I didn't care about the characters, except the cat. If you're like me always worry about animal's destiny in books/media, the cat in this book
is alive and ok!
. I was dissatisfied we didn't really get a reason for what happened with the family, but I guess that's what the author intended to do.

Unfortgettable narrator. Funny and painful and magical all at once. Quite feminist in a twisted way. Layers and layers of subtext, but not in a way that keeps you outside of the story.
