This review and many more can be found on my blog: Feed Your Fiction Addiction

Pocket Full of Tinder is, without a doubt, my favorite book in this series so far. Maybe because I’m a sucker for Ari and this book has a LOT of interaction between Onyx and my favorite demon with a heart of gold. Or maybe I just appreciated Onyx’s struggle to prove herself in this new, uncharted territory. Or maybe the two-year gap between books actually gave Archer some breathing room so she could produce a super high-quality, engaging story. Whatever the reason, I found myself incredibly invested in this installment the whole way through (whereas the other books tended to start out a little slower for me and then I warmed up to them).

What Fed My Addiction:

That cover.
Okay, I know this shouldn’t really matter, but just take a look at the new cover style! I’m loving it!!

Ari and Onyx.
As is typical in this type of fantasy (it reads a bit like urban fantasy) the romance is a bit on and off over a span of several books. In this installment, I got plenty of my favorite couple (and pretty much none of my non-favorite couple)—which isn’t to say that the course of love ran completely smoothly. In fact, there was plenty of turmoil for these two. But that just made the relationship all that much more interesting! And where it all ended up … well, of course I can’t say, but … gosh, I don’t even know how to give my reaction without spoiling things, so just read it!

Steady pacing.
Like I said in my intro, this book moved at a steady clip and kept me engaged the entire way through. By the end of the book, I was furiously flipping the pages, needing to know what would happen next!

Demons!
Since Onyx was actually working with the demons in this book, we got to see a lot more of them. Onyx has to prove herself to the group at Rockthorn Gorge, and the stakes feel incredibly high because she’s never quite sure who might be plotting against her (and Ari—and the bridge project in general). Normally, battle scenes and such aren’t my favorite parts of fantasy and urban fantasy novels, but in this case the “practice” matches between Onyx and the demons kept me guessing enough that I never lost interest. It was fun to see what new trick the demons would come up with and to guess at whether or not Onyx would come out on top.

Game-changing developments.
A thing happened in this book that made me crazy and I simply refuse to believe it’s real. Refuse. It’s all going to go away. Probably. In the next book. Or the one after. Darn you, Jill Archer!!

What Left Me Hungry for More:

Reactions.
Onyx’s reaction when the thing happened frustrated me. I kind of wanted to scream at her to use her head. But it wasn’t her head that was in charge at that moment, so … Then I felt like the repercussions of her reaction were strangely short-lived, and that had me scratching my head a little. Still, these were minor issues in an overall fantastic story!

I loved this book, and now I’m incredibly eager to read the next installment! I give this one 4.5/5 stars!

Book #25 Read in 2017
Pocket Full of Tinder by Jill Archer

Though I have not read the prior books in the series, I enjoyed this book and will probably go back and read the others. This is a good paranormal read. Noon has waning magic and lives in a world full of angels and demons. She is still learning her full power and has help from various figures. She has a complicated relationship with Ari, a demon who can shapeshift into a drakon. This book had a lot of action, humor and romance in it. I recommend it.

I picked this series up on a whim and now the Author has a fan for life.
It may seem like a romance book at first but it's more like a self discovery adventure in an amazingly creative setting. The characters and world are intriguing and very well done.
Noon is very well written and executed. She can be clumsy and makes a ton of mistakes, yet she is still definitely powerful and capable. Both sides of her are brought out, making her relatable and endearing. Her journey is one of accepting the way the world is, yet also finding a place in that world that is true to herself.
This latest book was a wild, amazing ride. It lifted me up, then it devastated me. I really, really hope that there is more to come from this universe and from this author. I would love to see more of Noon's story (though Night and Raf's would be interesting as well!) I would like to see Noon coping more with the outcome of what's happened, as well as how she handles her next year's assignment. The combination of the two sounds like a tempestuous mix that would be enjoyable and make this journey even more unforgettable.
If you have a few dollars and need some entertainment, this is definitely a safe bet. Even if you find it's not your cup of tea, the lore and world building itself is worth a read. Of all the random books a the book store to chose, I'm very happy I grabbed this one.
