This book was odd. The pacing felt off. It also used the phrase "in the dark of winter" three times in one paragraph and probably over a hundred times in an 84 pg book.

short instalove story
Well I guess if you’re going to have a crazy stalker type FMC you might as well stick them with a possessive orc, right? This book was not nearly as spicy as I thought it would be. It was a cute story about acceptance for who you are and really baby hungry people. And orcs that have a long history of stealing human women and are now “modernized”.
Spice: 1 and 1/3 scenes (sad right???)
Triggers: mention of parental abandonment, stalking

This book reads like it was written by AI or an alien who’s never had an actual conversation with a human. It would benefit from some serious editing & proofreading. The idea was cute but the execution was stilted & white savior -y.

Grace (h) secretly spies on the orc, Alden (H), who lives next door, hoping to get to know her crush more intimately. After finally working up the courage to talk to him, Grace and Alden find themselves drawn to one another, but Alden keeps trying to resist Grace’s advances, worrying that it’s that time of year when his wild orc side will get the better of him and he’ll claim her whether she wants it or not. Luckily for Alden, she does. Hot and steamy orc romantic quickie.

I’m going to go ahead and put this on my ‘should not exist’ shelf because this book absolutely should not exist.
This is the worst bit of writing I have seen in a long while. You can tell this author received a lot of participation trophies growing up because only someone with a crazy amount of overconfidence would press publish on this piece of garbage.
Add to that, this had a really creepy tone and the white saviorism and traditional wife/woman/caregiver vibes were off the charts.
Yikes.

This series is based or at least inspired by the story of residents of Fairhaven in a world when mythical creatures are real and co-exist with humans in relative harmony. Because the story is highly based on the series they do not go into details relating to the world building but rather chose to focus on the characters as a whole. That being said, they do mention how the mythical creatures are treated differently to their human counterparts and it is a central part of the story.
In this book the neighbors are orc and human, with the orc being in the 'rut' stage of his yearly cycle and struggling to stay away from his human who will just not relent in their pursuit and having to wait for the orc to come around. The main reason why I gave this story a rating of 3 stars is because of the style of writing, a lot of it was pushy and unrealistic which I know should be a given because of the fantasy aspect but in this story with the realistic setting it doesn't really work.

It was a cute story but some of the writing and dialogue was a little immature.

I was in the mood for ridiculous, sappy, sweetness. It pretty much hit that mark.
Sadly, it needed another couple runs through an editor. It’s not well written, there are a good amount of typos, grammatical errors, and repetitiveness.
