A stunning conclusion to the Echoes of the Fall trilogy.

Hyena and the Hawk was filled with heartache and brutal battles, but with it came a slow understanding of people; enemies became allies and friends became family.

I have loved following the characters of this trilogy, absorbing myself in their cultural magic and investing myself in various character developments.
At times I have been overwhelmed with the abundance of characters to follow, but on the whole this was an incredibly satisfying series of books.

Brilliant world building, and a terrifying portrayal of colonialism

I didn't like the twist of the story, if I'm being honest. I think if the 'villains' of the piece had been different, and the severing of the soul self, a lot of this took a much darker turn and I didn't enjoy it a whole lot.

I was okay with the ending and how things wrapped up in that regard, I just... find it odd that the other society is the total opposite in a way and the bug people kind of thing? I guess. It wasn't ideally what I would expect from what I thought was a historical fantasy setting kind of like the Black God.

Really enjoyed this trilogy - the wide breadth of characters, world setting and fantasy elements were fab.
