I went into this trade blind. I knew absolutely nothing. With the universe being rebooted, I thought this would be a good time to jump on board.

After a little background that i found a little bit confusing (probably because I didn't read the previous run) we jump right into the storyline following Superman, Lois, and Jon as they navigate through life on the farm and Jon's developing powers. I found the family dynamic really cute, and something I really wasn't expecting. It was actually pretty relatable, and very realistic which I actually enjoyed. It was really sweet Clark, Lois, and Jon interact.

The problem I had with this trade was that the plot was forgettable. Honestly, probably won't even remember what it was about next week. It was forgettable, flat, and frankly uninteresting. It was action packed but, I just didn't care. I kept checking my progress because I just wanted it to be over.

One thing I really did like in this trade was Lois. I typically don't like Lois, but this one was kickass! Don't mess with the baby bear, when mama bear is around!

Also, the Hellbat suit? Freaking AWESOME!

Also, the artwork was fantastic and colorful. It went perfectly with the storyline.

It's sweet and packed with action, but it just wasn't for me. I would still recommend to anyone who is a Superman fan, it's an interesting transition worth checking out. Though I wasn't a fan of this trade, I'm still interested to see how it plays out.

So this is my first comic, I don’t know if this is a good place to start because I know nothing about comics so here goes nothing. I also know kind of the general idea of Superman. I haven’t seen any of the DCEU movies, I’ve seen some of the animated shows and Supergirl. So that’s how much I know about the character.

~Spoilers~

I don’t know how to feel about this book, I was kind of confused because the comic was referencing stuff that I didn’t know what it was talking about. I did like the characters and seeing Superman and his kid work together was cool. The art was pretty and I loved the space battle. I don’t know if I’ll keep reading these comics.

As the issues started to progress there was a lot of pop culture references that I don’t know how to feel about. There was a Ghostbusters and Star Wars reference. It just felt weird.

The artwork is top-notch! Everything about the art has my heart. For someone who always gets to comics way later, Rebirth with its due criticisms, really improves upon New 52. Sure the story might have been okay-ish. The super-family bonding is very very satisfying. I might need to see more Clark and less Superman to up my rating a bit. Jon is plucky, I already like him better than any other clone/alien iterations of Superboys. He is a good addition to the house of El. Finally, Lois. Hands down one of my favourite DC characters. So misrepresented in the New 52. She is super awesome here, pun intended and on her path to sweet sweet redemption. I care about this family so much. :)

And can we take a moment to talk about Hellbat Lois!? I mean come on. So badass!!

Perler Tomasi & Pat Gleason gave put together a solid arc. Here, they attempt to introduce the pre-52 Superman to the New 52 world.

The new-52 Superman is dead, leaving a void within the universe. The original Clark has decided to stop trying to help from the shadows and put on the blue and reds. Along with trying to figure out where he fits in, he has to try and teach his son, Jonathan, how to start controlling his powers.

During one of their teaching moments, some of Jonathan's blood is left and detected by The Eradicator. The Eradicator want to bring back the Kryptonians that have been trapped within him since the planet was destroyed. To do this, he needs to cleanse Jonathan of his earthly DNA. of course, all he'll breaks loose and Clark is exposed as Superman.

Fighting ensues with Clark coming out victorious. He is recognized as the Superman of this universe and introduces himself and Jonathan to Batman & Wonder Woman.

I love Pat Gleason's art. He has a great feel for putting together action sequences. Peter Tomasi's writing and dialogue come off natural and realistic. I wish there was a little more action, but I have a feeling the 2nd arc will give us that as the Bat family and Sup family meet.

More to come..
