Here's the thing - there is a level of repetition in Mhairi McFarlane's work that occasionally annoys me (girl in long term relationship is suddenly and surprisingly dumped, ends up with posh London boyish smart type) but there's something about the characters and how much fun they have and how much they like each other and the homey specific details and the way that the friends are genuinely friends. It fits a hole that needs to be filled for me right now in this pandemic so I forgive the repetition and enjoy the ride.

All the stars! Loved it from start to finish. What a great read, with such an intelligent, fallible and likeable character at the heart of it. And so funny! Highly recommended!

I like her later books better. I feel like I’m this one Mhairi McFarlane is still finding her stride. There were moments where so many bad decisions were being made I had to put the book down, but the ending was fantastic and I loved the end.
