Okay, I'll be quick here (I won't)

The book is for sure worth the read, it was a quick and easy read ( or listen if your me, the very wide cast for the audiobook was very nice and refreshing). You really do have to be in it for the characters though, because the plot is kind of lost in the sauce for most of the book. At times, it truly feels irrelevant that they are the most powerful magic users in the world, because your more wrapped up in the personal dramas. It reads much more like fanfic or a TV show than a novel, which I don't mind 95% of the time.
The premise and worldbuilding had me hooked from the beginning and then kind of failed to keep me there, or continue to expand or even explain things at time. I feel that this booked suffered from having a MASSIVE amount of interesting things going on but too many at the same time that none of them felt fully fleshed out or used to their full potential. I feel like I knew next to nothing about Reina because she was ignored half the book, Callum could have been infinitely more interesting and compelling if he would have spent less time being annoying, and a billion other stories felt very so exciting, but left to the side because we had to move on to the next characters bit.
Ultimately though, I did really enjoyed it a lot, the characters keep it interesting, the transitions between characters and the moments or realization a character has about another during their POV are always compelling.
But honestly, I read this book because someone said it had the best threesome scene they had read in it. It did not disappoint, though it would've been rated M not E if we are talking typical AO3 Rules. 10/10 smut.

I listened to this on audiobook, but only when my friend was with me so it took a long while to get through. This is not a book where all of the characters are lovable, the flaws were front and center here and people are mostly motivated by wanting knowledge/power. There are some lofty discussions of scientific/philosophical topics which are interesting but can sometimes make the story drag. Not much happens besides the Six studying and interacting with each other, then at the end the plot all rushes forward and just as it's getting exciting the book stops there. Hopefully this is promising for the next book, but it leaves you feeling a bit cheated after spending so much time reading this one.

I did a combo of listening to the audiobook (full cast, a narrator for each POV) and reading a physical copy, which was fantastic!

This is definitely a predominantly character-driven novel, but the characters are so interesting and lushly written that it often feels like so much is going on anyway (even though it isn't really).  It's one of those books where you feel like you can't really trust anyone as they all have ulterior motives (morally gray). It's very mysterious in their motives coming to light, and learning more about all the characters magical abilities.
I do really wonder though how much the next books will be character driven though because this book feels like a big set up for some major plot things to happen (ie: preventing the destruction of the universe?). SO I do kinda think/hope the storyline will move a bit more out of the character's heads just to really let this story unfold.

Also def everyone is queer, like there's no question in my mind that this will develop in the next books...

I cannot wait for the continuation of the series!

I’m very bad at writing reviews for books(mainly cause it takes me months to finish them) but I fell in love with this one so I’ll try my best.

The overall reason I fell in love with this book is the writing. The way emotions are written in this book makes it one of my top five. The wording just really hit for me, the beginning chapter alone immediately made me obsessed.

The characters are so well thought out, Olivie really does a great job at portraying their desires and their personalities to the reader that you feel like you’ve met these people.

I’m a sucker for practical magic. In the world of the Atlas Six magic doesn’t just simply exist, magic uses the basic building blocks of our world and manipulates in some way. I will say I do get a bit lost when it’s explained in the book but besides the point it’s nice not having the author be like oh yea you know some people just be magical  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One last thing, I really like you're constantly learning new information whether that be about the characters or the universe there’s always something keeping you wanting for the next page.

Overall if you’re looking for a short character driven fiction book with magic, Atlas Six has toy covered.

Just wish there was more of the boy Gideon :(
