Picked this based on the title, not clear what the theme is. Most were awkward and painful to read.
Fav - the one where the young boy has college boys watch him for a summer
Hated - the 14-yr old babysitter getting assaulted, the gay man meeting up with his old roommate, single moms on vacation with their daughters, the entire story The Man At the Door.

"Women are at their best when they write about men." I thought it was strange how many stories only had men in it.

This is a very tricky book to rate since there are alot of stories and you might like some and hate some but I decided on a 2 star since the stories  I didn't like were alot more than those I liked. Almost all the stories were an open end and this annoyed me so much especially since some of them had to have a conclusion not to be left like this. Also what I was looking for when I got into for the stories to make me feel something whether it's fluffiness. Sadness anything but what I only felt was disgust really the topics were so bad. So I guess this wasn't for maybe some people like this way of writing and all but I couldn't digest it at all.

I am not a big short story reader as I typically like to spend a whole book getting to know characters. However Lily King is one of my favorite authors so I had to give these a try. I certainly enjoyed some stories more than others. I like King’s writing style as she has a great ability to paint a scene and conjure nostalgia. I personally liked the titular story the most.
