Roses Are Red

James Patterson

3.85 AVERAGE

As usual, another amazing thriller by the best, James Patterson. He writes as if he is Cross and he is solving these crimes. I feel as though I am reading a diary of sorts.

This is your regular Patterson story, quick read, enjoyable. I'd put it at 3.5*, but then that last sentence literally had my jaw drop. I can't give it anything less than 5* for that ending alone. Grabbing the next book already.

Another in the long line of Patterson police crime dramas.

ok i loved this whole book but literally broke down and almost threw the book across the room when Betsie died like sis didnt deserve that ughh

Good captivating read with really random twist at end that still had me scratching my head but ended on major let down

I thought I was used to last page twists, but this one beats them all!

Keeps you guessing till the very end!

“I told the truth and shamed the devil.”

I know why I didn't love this and others did. I'm reading these completely out of order (or in no kind of order) and the personal chapters about the kids and the significant others....they are just lost on me while others love the updates. I also know that I like these books so much more as audio books.

But the story is interesting - bank robberies that are pulled of with exactness down to the second - and where so die and others don't. I liked getting to know the detectives and I liked the sprint of the story - how it jumped from short chapters tied to the family and then short chapters all about the robberies, the pursuit of the Mastermind and Alex Cross struggling to slip sleep and food in between it all. I did enjoy the mystery even if I'd guessed the who well before the reveal.

4 STARS

"In a series of crimes that has stunned Washington, D.C., bank robbers have been laying out precise demands when they enter the building — and then killing the bank employees and their families if those instructions are not followed to the letter.
Detective Alex Cross takes on the case, certain that this is no ordinary bank robber at work — the pathological need for control and perfection is too great. Cross is in the midst of a personal crisis at home, but the case becomes all-consuming as he learns that the Mastermind is plotting one huge, last, perfect crime." (From Amazon)

I liked this suspenseful novel.
