Lily Adler is caught up in another murder mystery! This time, it is a man her father had always been close friends with. He died in his own home (in the library as the title states). Lily and her friend Captain Jack are working on figuring out who would murder such a kind man. However, there are family secrets that they end up uncovering while investigating. This was a good one. I had a theory and thought of who had done it, but even so, there was a bit of a turn of events about why it happened! This was good. I liked it about as much as I had the first book.

A perfectly solid follow up to The Body in the Garden. Interesting, with a few unexpected twists and turns. Very interesting to see the cast of characters grow, and to learn more about some of them, such as Mr Page and Lily's father.

Delightful. I'd definitely read more of these, as it's exactly my genre-- strong 19th century woman who solves crimes while managing to skirt around social norms. Regency

The second novel in the Lily Adler mystery series shows marked improvement from the first. I appreciate a novel that won’t let me stop reading. We’ll done. I did miss Jem. He does make a few appearances but they are very short. I enjoyed spending more time with the Bow Street Runner, Mr. Simon Page. I also thought the complex relationship between Lily and her father was well explicated.

A well constructed story with fun characters, real to regency era. This is the second book in the Lily Adler's mystery series and even though I haven't read the first one, I really enjoyed this book. I'm pretty sure if you read the first book you will get a better understanding of the relationship among the three main characters Lily, Jack and Simon Page, and at some points that crossed my mind. However, that didn't hold me back from enjoying the story. Especially the relationship between Jack and Lily was a bit of an enigma to me, but I assume this is the point because this whole series is a slow burn romance. With that said, to my dismay, there is no romance whatsoever in this book. There is an underlying hint of romance though that I'm pretty sure we are gonna explore in the following books.
The mystery was really well written and even though, being a Hercule Poirot enthusiast myself, I had a vague idea of who might the culprit be, it was still a well made revelation.
I didn't give 5 stars because Lily annoyed me some times by fighting her urge not to be a proper lady and just follow her insticts. I'm pretty sure she is just growing as a character through this series.

I received an Arc by #NetGalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

It’s a cute, harmless cozy mystery series. I happened to predict the ending of this one as well. I think I’ll keep going in the series not for the whodunnit, but because I really like the characters. Would be interested to see a count of how many times Lily “realized her hands were shaking,” because I bet it’s more than ten.
