I struggled with getting invested in this one unfortunately. I enjoy reading Agatha Christie but I don't think I was in the right mood

I haven't read Poirot in a bit, and I have fallen in love all over again! I say this quite often, but this is my favourite Poirot! I didn't expect the murderer AT ALL. It kept me on the edge of my seat and I really read this in about 3 settings, which says a lot.
One of the best Poirots so far!!

So this caused a late night because I just could not stop reading until I knew who the murderer was. I'd already figured out who DIDN'T do it (turned out I was correct) but was struggling to figure out who else it could be. It did feel a bit "rambly" in the middle, so thus not a five-star rating, however as you already can tell, it was still gripping. I also liked the references to previous Poirot stories :)

It isn't a Poirot mystery until the Belgian with his mustaches and "little grey cells" shows up. Considering nearly half the book goes by between his appearances (he pops up at the very beginning and then again almost half-way through), it gets a bit tedious mucking about in the heads of the Boyntons. Good ending though.
mysterious medium-paced

“I never forget anything: not a name, not a face, not an action.”
adventurous challenging mysterious slow-paced
Plot or Character Driven: Plot

A Hercule Poirot mystery that I wouldn't rate as highly as Agatha Christie's other works, but it got better towards the end. Set in Petra in modern-day Jordan. The victim is a tyrant who "deserves" to die, but Poirot won't let the murderer get away.

This one especially always makes me want to revisit the Middle East

Ha estat àgil, interessant. Un misteri amb una resolució que té prou sentit. Sí que he trobat un excès de misogínia en alguns dels diàlegs, cosa que m'ha sobtat ja que no ho havia notat abans en llibres de l'Agatha Christie.
