A lovely story about embracing your differences and sharing your joy with others. I love the blurb that went along with this as well. It's so true.
We don't choose what our "different" is most of the time, and it's important for the kids around us to learn to empathize. This story has so many applications. A must-read and a must-reinforce. Parents could learn from this, too.

Different -- A Great Thing to Be! by Heather Avis is an informative book for children ages 5-7 about how people can be different, specifically highlighting those with physical and intellectual disabilities. This book is actually very powerful because it doesn't stereotype people with disabilities, but rather personifies the word "different." I would use this book in my classroom because it provides information on how many students are different and that is a great thing and it does it in an excellent way.

Read this to my class and they loved it! Many of them will pick it up during their free reading time now and re-read it themselves! :)

So excited about this book. It was perfect to share with the 6 year old in my life. I just love Heather Avis and her family. On her podcast or Instagram she mentioned she wants to write a book for each one of her kids and I can’t wait til these are made. Fingers crossed it’s soon.
